User Testing
A weighted, working prototype model was tested by users unfamiliar with the extinguisher’s functional features.
Ideation
Smooth and compact features allow Torch to be packed into tight spaces without the risk of being accidentally triggered
A curved thumb grip and debossed arrow let the user know they need to rotate the cap downwards to arm Torch
When closed, the nozzle and spring-loaded button are protected. Turning open the cap lets the user press the button while aligning the nozzle for action
Leave no trace
with a clean agent expellent that leaves no residue upon release, has an atmospheric lifetime of 5 days and global warming potential of less than 1
Reuse, recycle
Torch’s grip can be removed, allowing for easy disassembly and recycling. It can be returned to manufacturer for refill after use
